Colouring booklet and animal app for safari
Three booklets in the luggage, 124 species in the app — the next booklet is one command instead of six misprints.
Figure: 124 Tierarten in der eigenen Bestimmungs-App aus 9 Posterfotos; 3 Hefte gedruckt · measured 2 September 2026
Request: „Turn the poster photos into an app for identifying animals.“
- Lay out twelve animal templates as an A5 booklet; a script computes the page order for folding (imposition).
- Print three copies — one per child.
- After the trip, build a searchable web app from nine photos of a mammal poster: 124 species.
- Identify safari photos from the phone.
A bought booklet that didn't match the animals, and a poster that stayed home on the wall.
Which animals, the print command, and the colouring.
Six misprints until the page order for folding was right — since then a script does the maths, not me.
A painful task captured as a script once means the learning price is paid only once; six misprints are a process, not bad luck.
Before the safari the kids wanted to know the animals they would see. The AI laid out twelve templates as an A5 booklet; a script computed the page order for folding — after six misprints, flawless ever since. Three copies went into the luggage. After the trip I photographed a mammal poster in nine parts, and from that came a searchable web app with 124 species that the kids use to identify their photos from the phone. The next booklet is one command.
